11am: Ikhlas defeats Kursi 49-42
At halftime it was Kursi holding a 22-20 lead and their play seemed like they could pull off the upset but second half saw the big Three for Ikhlas of Zamam Khan, Chad Mondesir and Zakariya Tmj Khan go to work and lead their team on a run which gave them the lead and Ikhlas held it for the win and will advance to the finals.where a rematch with Nas awaits from last years finals where Nas won the championship.
12pm: Kawhtar defeats Al-Masad 47-40
The final quarterfinal match-up saw Kawthar use their size to grind out points as Jon Grunham and Farhad Khan ate up the interior defense of Al-Masad for an early lead. Al-Masad could not find their rhythm on three-point shots and allowed Kawthar to collapse more in the paint to limit the Al-Masad bigs. Kawthar advanced to the Tier-2 Final Four to face Bayyina.
1pm: Nas defeats Fatiha 44-37 to advance to the Finals
Ancient rivals faced up again, Fatiha started strong and held the lead for much of the first half but turnovers hurt them as carelessness with the ball gave Nas transition baskets and a 23-17 lead at the half. Fatiha worked to close the gap and while their team defense was strong they were not able to hit shots on the offensive side which hindered their chances to make a comeback. The result was Nas win who will advance to the finals to meet Ikhlas - whom they defeated in the finals last season as they now look to go back-to-back.
2pm: Bayyina defeats Kawthar in a thriller to advance to the finals
Bayyina came into this game having endured a rough regular season and hoping for a post season turnaround yet came into this game with no subs against Kawthar who had a full bench and were warmed up from their win earlier in the day. Despite all of this Bayyina came roaring out the gate as Stefan Mioc used his size and speed to score early and often as he led his team to a 27-16 lead at the half. Kawthar made some halftime adjustments and slowly started to chip away and set up a thrilling final minute of the game. You can see the highlights on our YouTube channel but down three with around 15 seconds left, Mudasir Marfatia hit a clutch 3-pointer to tie the game at 43-43, as his team celebrated and tried to set their defence for the final Bayyina possession, Mioc pushed the ball up where he was stripped only to have it bounce forward to Ferhan Khan who heard the call from his nephew Saifullah Khan who moved under the basket - a quick pass and calm layup from Saifullah Khan at the buzzer gave Bayyina a 45-43 win and a ticket to the finals.
3pm: Adiyat hangs on for a 51-50 win over Ma'un
Ma'un came into this game confident that they could match up with Adiyat well and they backed up the talk with a hot start to the game as The-Sarim Khan AKA "The Big Ticket" drilled a trio of three's early as Ma'un built a 26-21 lead at the half. Second half saw Adiyat start to chip away as Mish Ahmed went to work in the post and ate up the interior defense of Ma'un with a number of offensive boards and putbacks as well as solid post moves. Adiyat managed to take the lead and were aided by some late turnovers by Ma'un as well as a silly technical foul. Ma'un didn't fold as Jamal Khan hit some big shots down the stretch and Ma'un found themselves down 51-50 with the final possession but were not able to connect on the winning basket at the buzzer allowing Adiyat to escape with the win and advance to the finals.
