November 8th - Week Two

11am - Al-Masad got their first win of the season by crushing Inshirah 88-41. While Inshirah did much better offensively in this one that their debut loss, their defence needs attention as they have given up 174 points in two games. Al-Masad was led by Tremell Mayers with 20 points and Ahmed Elmoursi with 15 points. Inshirah was led by Reyhan Choudhury with 16 points.

12pm - Falaq defeats Bayyina by a 61-48 score, Nathan Campbell made a big return with 15 points & 12 rebounds while Sherif Shehata added 14 points. Darko Trifunovic put up 13 points and 10 rebounds and combined with Campbell gives Falaq a strong front court presence. Bayyina was led by Stefan Mioc with 11 points and Tyrone Ford with 9 points while rookieSaifullah Khan finished with 8 points. The win puts Falaq in first place while Bayyina drops to last.

1pm - Kursi made their debut with a victory over defending champs Nas by a 67-65 score. Kursi built up an early lead and seemed on the verge of blowing Nas out but the champs made a game of it and had a chance to win the game but couldn’t hit the buzzer beater. Kursi was led by Mannahel Choudhry with 27 points and Rory St.Jean with 19 points. Nas got 19 points from Sanel Sehic while Jamal SaugaCity Bundy Douglas added 17 points. Nas has had some injuries so the new players brought in will have to adjust quickly to get the team back to winning.

2pm - Tamjeed defeated Ma’un 44-36 to take sole possession of first place. Tamjeed was coming off their blowout win over Inshirah but Ma’un gave them a run and could have won but fell in love with their three point shot (7 for 29) which hurt them. Tamjeed could have iced this one early if their free throw shooting was decent, 15/31 will not get it done. Tamjeed was led byMohamed Abdurbo with 14 points while Christopher Bewhey added 8 points & 13 rebounds. Ma’un was led by Moazzam Sheikh with 16 points and was carrying his team early; Jamal Khan was limited to 3 points but finished with 10 rebounds as the burden of covering the Tamjeed bigs fell on him and seemed to wear him down.

3pm - Takathur got a 59-45 win over Ikhlas putting both teams to a 1-1 record. Takathur built an early lead and kept building on it with a great team effort considering they were short benched. Faizal Merali and Alykhan Bhimjieach put up 16 points, Bhimji with a scorching 5/6 on 3’s. Hussain Shivjiadded 11 points & 13 rebounds. Ikhlas was led by Zakariya Tmj Khan with 25 points & 9 rebounds and Yasser Malik with 8 points.

4pm - Qariyah debuted to a 47-36 win over Kawthar in a game with some fireworks. Passion spilled over early and resulted in some silly technicals but Qariyah used their size to control the second half and pull away. Isfan Prebtani led Kawthar with 17 points on 5/7 shooting on three’s and had the crowd on his side. Qariyah was led by Saad Ahmad with 14 points and Babur Ali with 12 points.
